While you don’t need to use any special words or speak robot, it is helpful to format your questions in a way that is clear to the AI on what it needs to do and how they need to give you results.
Can I use any sales AI for research?
The short answer is no. Not all AI is created equal and it greatly matters why it was built to determine if it will actually help you or your team to gather the information you want from it. When looking for an AI research assistant, you want to look for those purpose built for RevOps and sales purposes. ChatGPT is not going to give you the same answers as the new Gradient Works AI Researcher because they were built for different purposes.
Common sales prompts for AI Researcher
When beginning prompts for our new AI Researcher, you need to first be clear on what information you need and how you expect the results to be presented to you; think of it like giving tasks to an intern. The more specific you are, the better your results will be.
AI Researcher was purpose-built for sales and RevOps research. And you just need a few pieces of information to get started. 
You need a prompt and the value for output. The prompt is the directions of what you are looking for and the values are the format of the results you want to receive. For the output, you have several options including text for a text-based response, boolean for a true/false response, and number for a numeric value.

- Explain your reasoning in 3 sentences or less.
Note: these values will return two things, first: a column with a yes or no answer, second: a column with details provided from the AI about why it chose the answer it did so you can check for accuracy.
What services does this company offer?
Prompt: You're an analyst working to research prospect [SaaS companies]. Your job is to learn about their products & services they offer.
Values:
- Create a comma-delimited list of the services this company offers.
- Explain your reasoning in 3 sentences or less.
Note: This will include a list of services separated by commas and the AI’s reasoning for the list it made.
How many locations are there?
Prompt: Your mission is to determine the number of locations for the [restaurant chain]. You may want to look at the about us section for the [restaurant chain's] website and/or look for a state directory of locations.
Do not guess how many locations the [chain] has. Only return an amount if you can identify from the website content.
Values:
- Number of locations
Does this company offer remote work?
Prompt: Visit the company's website. Your mission is to determine if they support remote work or not.
Values:
- True if the company supports Remote Work, False otherwise.
- "Fully Remote" if the entire workforce is remote, "Hybrid" if the company supports partial remote or work-from-home but also requires some in-office time, and "In-office" if the company doesn't support remote work at all.
Note: The values will produce two new columns. The first will be a true/false for remote work and the second will label the type of workforce they have as “fully remote”, “hybrid”, or “in-office”.
Which companies should we disqualify because they are consultants or nonprofits?
Prompt: Act as an analyst and determine if any of these accounts are [consultants or nonprofits].
Values:
- “Consultant” if the company provides consulting services, “nonprofit” if the company is a nonprofit.
- Explain your reasoning in three sentences or less.
Note: The values will produce two new columns. The first will label the company type as “consultant” or “nonprofit” or will be blank if it is neither, the second will be the AI’s reasoning for its choice.
